Local News in Brief : Ex-Prosecutor Fined
Gary P. Kesselman, a former deputy district attorney who was fired after his arrest last October in South-Central Los Angeles for lewd conduct with a prostitute, was fined $240 Friday and placed on two years’ probation.
Kesselman, 45, the original prosecutor in the “Twilight Zone” manslaughter case, pleaded no contest Monday in Los Angeles Municipal Court to a reduced charge of disturbing the peace.
In a separate case, Kesselman was charged Monday with misdemeanor battery after his estranged wife, Eloisa, accused him of trying to choke her during a dispute March 1. His attorney, Warren L. Ettinger, said there is no evidence to support the charge.
Arraignment on the battery charge is set for May 11.
