Street clashes between supporters of rival South Korean political parties left dozens injured, and police guarded scores of rallies across the country as the parties whipped up support for Tuesday’s National Assembly elections. Police said all available forces were mobilized to watch 148 campaign rallies Saturday. Major newspapers said their surveys indicated that the governing Democratic Justice Party headed by President Roh Tae Woo is likely to win a majority in the 299-seat Assembly.
