Times Poll on American Jews

Share

The survey box accompanying the “Jews in U.S. Committed to Equality” article pointed out some interesting facts.

Normally one would expect a group which ranks high in education and income to have a more balanced representation of “conservatives” and Republicans.

The overwhelming bias the Jewish respondents showed towards “liberal” and the Democratic Party could perhaps be explained by the emphasis our Jewish culture places on charity, on doing good, and on equality and social justice for all.

Looks like we Jews are the only group in our society that is willing to vote against its own political and financial interests, all in the name of “doing good” and improving conditions for those less privileged.

What an opportunity for Republicans and conservatives to prove that goodness and righteousness are not the exclusive preserve of the “liberals” and the Democrats.
