Report Lists ‘Hot’ ZIP Code Building Areas

One result of the slow-growth movement has been to concentrate construction in some ZIP code areas, according to a study released by Jack Kyser, chief economist of the Los Angeles area Chamber of Commerce.

Kyser’s study, conducted in cooperation with Western Economics Research Co. Inc., shows ZIP codes with building permits of all types valued at $500,000 and over in 1987.

In the San Fernando Valley, some of the ZIPs with the most growth were 91331, 91402, 91406 and 91411 in the Pacoima/Van Nuys area. In the West Valley, there was significant activity in Woodland Hills, Calabasas and Agoura ZIPs 91301, 91302, 91303) and 91367.

In Beverly Hills, Century City, Westwood and West Los Angeles, the hot ZIPs were 90210, 90024, 90025, 90035, 90049 and 90067.

Also hot were central Los Angeles’ ZIPs 90012, 90013, and 90021.

Chino, Corona and Rancho Cucamonga ZIPs with significant construction activity included 91709, 91720, and 91761. Among hot Orange County ZIPs were 92679, 92709, 92714, 92715, 92717 and 92718, in Irvine, Santa Ana, El Toro and Laguna Hills.
