San Clemente : Illegal Aliens Held After Freeway Chase Into L.A.
Border Patrol agents from the San Clemente checkpoint apprehended three illegal aliens early Sunday morning near Silver Lake Boulevard in Los Angeles after a one-hour chase that wove through Orange and Los Angeles counties, reaching speeds of 90 m.p.h.
The northbound pursuit began about 1:25 a.m. when the driver of the vehicle refused to stop at the San Clemente checkpoint, said Mike Nicely, public information officer for the Border Patrol.
Nicely said the chase “went all over L.A. County” on several main thoroughfares and ended about 2:30 a.m. when the driver turned off the Hollywood Freeway at Silver Lake, stopped an then ran away on foot. He is still at large.
The three arrested aliens will be allowed to return voluntarily to Mexico, Nicely said.
