Nicaraguan troops destroyed the village of Suji in a remote part of eastern Honduras, killing two Hondurans, a soldier and a civilian, and wounding 17 in a “perverse and cowardly” incursion on April 13, the Honduran armed forces said. It was the first raid reported since thousands of Sandinista troops crossed the border in March in their largest offensive aimed at the bases of U.S.-backed Contras inside Honduras. After that incursion, the United States dispatched troops in a show of support for Honduras.
