‘The Season of Our Return’
Chile, 1987, 85 minutes , 10 p.m . A woman’s search for her husband, who has been relocated for re-education in northern Chile. This first feature by Leonardo Kocking attempts a complex narrative as a means of establishing the ethereal nature of justice under the Pinochet regime. The device, however, only distances us from the action and emotion and its enigmatic conclusion is wholly unsatisfactory.
