2 Midwestern Bank Companies Cut Staffs

ST. LOUIS —
About 750 employees will be cut from the combined staffs of Mercantile Bancorp Inc. and Centerre Bancorp after a merger of the bank holding companies, Donald Lasater, Mercantile chairman, said Thursday.
The cuts will occur through attrition to the extent possible, Lasater told the annual shareholders meeting.
