In other Pacific Coast League games:

Laguna Hills 2 Orange 0--Margo Melendrez threw her ninth shutout of the season for Laguna Hills (12-8, 3-2). Melendrez (11-7) allowed just 2 hits and struck out 4. She also doubled in the first inning and scored on a throwing error. Shelby Kowalcyk had a solo home run for Laguna Hills.

In the Century League:

Canyon 0, Santa Ana 0 (13 innings)--Katie Cramer extended her scoreless-inning streak to 53 but came away with a no-decision for Canyon (12-6-1, 4-1-1) in a game that was called because of previous field commitments at Memorial Park in Santa Ana. Cramer struck out 18. Natalie Sanchez struck out seven for Santa Ana (10-6-1, 3-2-1).

Villa Park 1, El Modena 0--Munique Hernandez (6-6) threw a two-hitter, striking out two, for Villa Park (10-13, 4-2) at El Modena Park. Laura Bernhard, who was 2 for 3, drove in Villa Park’s run with a ground out in the second inning.

In the Empire League:

Loara 1, El Dorado 0--Brandy Fields singled home Tammy Nelson in the top of the sixth for Loara (8-13, 3-3). Krinon Lapihuska (8-13) threw a one-hitter, striking out two, for Loara.

Los Alamitos 4, Katella 1--Cindy Ford had 2 hits, 2 RBIs and a run scored to lead Los Alamitos (9-9, 3-3) at Katella. Christy Bowles also had two hits and scored a run. Shannon Skoglund (7-4) threw a three-hitter, striking out 11, for Los Alamitos.

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills 6, Fullerton 0--Amy Hewitt threw a one-hitter, striking out eight, for host Sunny Hills.

In the Garden Grove League:

Garden Grove 4, Rancho Alamitos 3--Garden Grove (12-12, 7-3) scored twice in the top of the seventh for the victory. With one out, Tammy Melendy singled and, one out later, went to third on a double by Gina DiMercurio. Both then scored on a throwing error.

Kennedy 10, Los Amigos 3--Cheryl Longeway pitched a four-hitter, struck out seven and went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored to lead Kennedy (18-5, 10-0) at home.

In the Orange League:

Brea-Olinda 2, Magnolia 0--Kelly Cook threw a no-hitter, extending her scoreless-inning streak to 20, for Brea-Olinda (15-3, 5-1) at Tamarack Park in Brea. Cook (14-3) struck out 11 and walked 2. Tricia Barr hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth for Brea.

Savanna 5, Anaheim 0--Nadine Ditto (8-9) threw a four-hitter, striking out four, for host Savanna (11-10, 3-3). Rosie Ferrante went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Savanna. Carrie Fredrick also had an RBI. Lisa Hawthorne increased her school record with her 18th stolen base of the season for Savanna.

Western 3, Valencia 2--Ivy Pinkerton (4-1) threw a two-hitter, striking out four, for host Western (14-8, 5-0). Collene Conahan had a home run and scored two runs and Teresa Anderson had an RBI single for Western. Natasha Dumoski had 10 strikeouts and gave up one earned run for Valencia. Michele Granger, Valencia’s top pitcher, was in Washington, D.C., to accept an award as softball player of the year by the U.S. Olympic Committee.

In the Sea View League:

Tustin 7, Estancia 3--Chanele Chambrone went 3 for 3 with 4 RBIs to lead visiting Tustin (13-3, 10-0).

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 4, Ocean View 0--Rae Rice (14-3) pitched a one-hitter and Kelly Manders hit a home run to lead host Fountain Valley (19-4-1, 5-0-1). Shannon Dolan had a bases-loaded single to drive in a run in the fifth to help Fountain Valley. In the Academy League:

Leffingwell Christian 16, Liberty Christian 5--Becky Cook had 2 hits and 4 RBIs to lead Leffingwell Christian (13-3, 10-0) at TeWinkle Park in Costa Mesa. Heather Cielnicky had 2 hits and 3 RBIs for Liberty Christian (6-5, 3-3).
