Students Cannot Take Final if They Owe School
A judge’s decision to throw out his temporary restraining order against Tuskegee University means students who owe the school more than $300 will not be allowed to take final exams this week.
Macon County Circuit Judge Howard F. Bryan had halted the predominantly black private school’s crackdown Wednesday. But after a six-hour hearing Friday, he dissolved the order.
University officials estimate that 600 students will be affected. Bryan said he agreed with student complaints against the crackdown but said he had no legal grounds to stop the school policy because the students could not show irreparable injury.
