Mediation for Flight Attendants

Share

USAir flight attendants who worked for Pacific Southwest Airlines before the two airlines were merged are continuing to work under the labor contract that the Assn. of Flight Attendants signed with PSA, a spokeswoman for the Washington, D.C.-based AFA said Monday.

Former PSA flight attendants have balked at signing a new contract offered by USAir because it would not give them economic parity with USAir’s flight attendants for three years.

The contract dispute is headed for mediation, according to AFA spokeswoman Cindy Yeast. “It’s scheduled to go before Robert Brown of the National Mediation Board on May 17, but we have a scheduling problem with that date,” Yeast said.

Yeast said former PSA flight attendants will continue to work under the old contract. A USAir spokesman was not available for comment on the contract deadlock.
