A former San Diego police officer and Police Academy instructor pleaded no contest Monday to child endangerment and misdemeanor unlawful touching involving two young girls.
Child pornography possession charges were dismissed against Donald Lindsley, 53, of El Cajon in a plea bargain agreement just as his preliminary hearing was to begin.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Rick Clabby reached an agreement in which he would not recommend more than a year in County Jail in the sentencing hearing set for June 16.
San Diego Municipal Judge Robert Stahl Jr. said he would consider placing Lindsley in a work furlough program.
Lindsley was a San Diego police officer for more than 20 years and was a former vice officer. He was teaching at the Police Academy until his arrest Aug. 12. Clabby said he was no longer teaching.
Lindsley had been charged with inducing two girls, ages 7 and 9, to pose for nude photographs and with committing lewd, lascivious acts.
Lindsley pleaded no contest to child endangerment, a felony, and two misdemeanor counts of annoying or molesting a child.
Lindsley remains free on his own recognizance. He retired from the Police Department in 1985.
