Sockers to Keep Ticket Funds Separate
The Sockers can establish a separate account for money collected from 1988-89 season tickets, a judge ruled Monday in Federal Bankruptcy Court.
Socker President Ron Cady said the money will be refunded to season-ticket buyers if the Sockers, who filed for protection from their creditors under Chapter 11 of the federal bankruptcy code, cease operations after this season.
The money will be placed in a separate account so that it will not be used to help pay the Sockers’ creditors during the franchise’s reorganization.
The Sockers open their best-of-seven Western Division championship series against the Kansas City Comets Saturday at the San Diego Sports Arena at 7:35 p.m. Game 2 will be played Wednesday, May 11, at 7:35 p.m. at the Sports Arena.
Games 3 and 4 will be played in Kansas City on May 13 at 6:05 p.m. and May 15 at 4:05 p.m.
Game 5, if necessary, is scheduled for May 21 in Kansas City at 6:05 p.m. Games 6 and 7, if necessary, will be in San Diego Wednesday May 25 and Saturday May 28. Starting times will be at 7:35 p.m.
