Kansas basketball center Marvin Branch has been charged with two counts of forgery for writing two checks on the account of a local business and giving them to another university student to cash.
Branch, who was declared academically ineligible to play in the second semester for the team that went on to win the national championship, was arrested Monday. He was scheduled to appear in court May 9.
The two checks written on the account of the Wagon Wheel Cafe were for more than $1,600. Branch allegedly signed the name of the owner of the business to the checks.
