Share

A 30-year-old man suspected of robbing a Westminster family at gunpoint was arrested Wednesday in Huntington Beach after authorities received a tip to his whereabouts, police said. A second suspect was still being sought.

William Burt Bledsoe of Westminster was taken into custody without incident Wednesday, Police Lt. Bob Burnett said. He was booked on suspicion of armed robbery, burglary and kidnaping.

Burnett said Bledsoe was one of two men suspected in the armed robbery of a private home in the 6700 block of West Park Place on Tuesday morning. The unidentified family--a man, his wife and their 6-year-old child--were held at gunpoint by two men during the robbery, Burnett said. He added that the father was hit with a gun butt by one of the suspects but did not require hospitalization.

Burnett said the kidnaping accusation was lodged against Bledsoe because the family was ordered to move from room to room against their will. He said the robbers escaped with cash and property worth about $600.
