Derby Favorite Draws 16th Post
Undefeated Private Terms, installed a 5-2 favorite, drew a disadvantageous No. 16 post today for the 114th running Saturday of the Kentucky Derby.
Winning Colors, the filly who will be attempting to become just the third female to win the world’s most famous horse race, drew a much more beneficial No. 11 gate. The D. Wayne Lukas-trained roan was installed the 3-1 second choice. Risen Star, winner of the Louisiana Derby and the son of 1983 triple crown winner Secretariat, got stuck on the rail and was installed at 6-to-1, the fourth choice behind Forty Niner (5-to-1 in the No. 17 gate).
