West Los Angeles : Police Seek Woman Con Artist

Police are looking for a woman who is suspected of stealing more than $1,000 from at least a dozen people by coming to their homes, posing as a neighbor’s relative and asking for money to treat her daughter’s broken arm or leg.

The woman is described as white, between 30 and 40 years old, weighing 130 to 150 pounds with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes. She is between 5 feet 6 and 5 feet 9 inches tall.

Los Angeles police Detective Mary Allen said the woman sometimes carries a 3- to 4-year-old girl when she approaches her victims, who are usually between 50 and 80 years old. She has been seen in Culver City as well as around San Vicente Boulevard and Bundy Drive, Pico and Westwood boulevards and Beverly Drive and Pico Boulevard, Allen said.

The woman drives cars described as a green Honda Civic, a brown Buick and a brown Chevrolet Impala, and she usually approaches homes between 1 and 3 p.m., Allen said. Police are asking anyone who has seen or been approached by the woman to call Allen at 312-8441.
