Local News in Brief : 2 Municipal Court Judges Named

Two Palos Verdes Estates attorneys have been appointed by Gov. George Deukmejian as judges of the South Bay Municipal Court.

The governor Thursday named Thomas P. Allen Jr., 60, and Gary E. Daigh, 37, to the $77,000-a-year posts.

Allen replaces Gaye W. Herrington, who retired, while Daigh fills a newly created position.

Allen has been a partner for the last 10 years in a family-run law firm in Redondo Beach. He is a former president and current member of the South Bay Bar Assn. and a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Assn. He graduated from Southwestern University School of Law in 1951.

Daigh has been a deputy county counsel since 1980 and has served since 1984 as a legal adviser for Sheriff Sherman Block and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He is a member of the California Peace Officer’s Assn. and the International Assn. of Police Chiefs.

Daigh graduated from USC in 1974 and Loyola Law School in 1977.
