A Real Screamer

Two Outtakes spies were at a recent research screening of UA’s “Betrayed,” by director Costa-Gavras, who’s known for powerful films (“Z,” “Missing”). The psychological thriller, due for August release, deals with white supremacy, and our sources jointly called it one of the “most powerful, shocking, moving” films that they’ve seen.

But not everyone was moved positively, they told us: One viewer in the audience of 400 at the AMC Century 14 was so upset by the movie that she stood up “ranting and raving”--finally screaming at the screen, “All white people are not like that!”

A manager escorted her from the theater, our sources said.

A UA spokeswoman said that she knew of “no responses like that” at any of the tests around the country, although she conceded “the film certainly will make people think.”

“Betrayed” stars Debra Winger as an FBI agent who falls in love with Tom Berenger, only to learn he’s part of a subversive group bent on instilling ultrarightist values at the highest levels of government.
