Free From Special Charges, Sierracin Profits Climb

Sierracin reported a first-quarter profit of $430,000, contrasted to a $414,000 loss a year earlier when the company’s results were depressed by a special charge.

The Sylmar-based maker of aerospace and electronic products said the profit equaled 13 cents a share and came on a 7% gain in revenue to $19.2 million from $18 million a year earlier.

In the year-ago quarter, Sierracin suffered the loss after taking a one-time charge of $706,000. The charge resulted from the company’s settlement of a lawsuit brought by Boeing Co. over Boeing’s rights to certain aircraft cockpit windows made by Sierracin.
