Share

Supervisor Thomas F. Riley said Thursday that he is proud of his 14 years in office and confident that the critics seeking his recall represent only a “vocal minority.”

“Since joining the board in 1974, I have supported the establishment and administration of a balanced general plan,” Riley said in a prepared statement. “One that ensures the preservation of this county’s beautiful canyons, foothills and shoreline yet also provides for the housing, employment and transportation needs of those who decide to make Orange County their home.”

Riley said he has authorized the preservation of 11,000 acres of open space and created 160 lane miles of new roads since becoming a supervisor. He also said he has received “calls and letters expressing support from throughout the county.”
