Six hours minus interminable commercials of “Hemingway” would have been intolerable without having taped it first and watching it with a heavy finger on the fast-forward button.

Whatever his contribution to American letters, his life was an egocentric disaster.

Stacy Keach probably did as well as anyone could portraying this cruel, faithless, unfaithful man.
