. . . A casting source tips us to the story line of the low-budget “Piranha Women and the Avocado Jungle of Death,” about to shoot in L.A. (for Empire): A woman professor and a buxom co-ed named Bunny go jungle trekking for the Piranha Women, radical feminists who “believe that cannibalism is the only true path to enlightened feminism.” A male tribe, the Donahews, are “gentle, nurturing men who live simple lives--sewing, cooking and cleaning.” There are also some macho types--who end up in a real stew!

. . . Critical comment: At the wrap-up of an NYC press screening of “Rambo III,” a large group of teens--who’d just seen the pic--caught sight of Roger Ebert and sent him their review. A mass of upturned thumbs, accompanied by the chant, “Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up!”

(No word from Roger on what he thinks of “RIII.” There’s never any Siskbert comment until the show airs.)

. . . By the way, after seeing a work print of “Rambo III” here, we’re predicting mass flinching during the cauterizing scene. You heard it here first!

. . . Religious experience at the Culver last week: “The Unholy” double-billed with “The Seventh Sign.”
