Mike McGee, curator of the fledgling Modern Museum of Art in Santa Ana, resigned Friday, according to Ann Resnik, the museums director of operations.

McGee, whose resignation was effective immediately, could not be reached for comment. Resnik declined to discuss the reasons for his departure, other than to say he left “on good terms” with management.

Resnik said the museum may not hire anyone to replace McGee as a full-time curator. “We have several people here to do the job,” she said. “But there will be no one in particular.”

McGee was programs coordinator for the Laguna Art Museum before joining the eight-month-old Modern Museum of Art at its inception. The museum is on the first floor of Griffin Towers on Hutton Centre Drive.
