Yogi Bear’s ‘Voice’ Dies at 71

Charles Dawson Butler, the voice behind hundreds of animated cartoon characters, including Huckleberry Hound and Yogi Bear, died today of a heart attack. He was 71.

Butler died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was admitted Monday after suffering a stroke at his Beverly Hills home. The prolific Butler, whose nickname was “Daws,” was best-known for providing voices on animated television programs produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions.
