From the it-pays-to-keep-in-touch-with-the-old-gang file: Bill Cosby has asked his old Philadelphia high school buddy James DePreist and his orchestra to record a new arrangement of “The Cosby Show” theme song. Cosby has used a new variation of the theme for the opening credits for each of his four seasons on NBC--two seasons ago he used a Latin version while this past year he asked skat/jazz singer Bobby McFerrin to record the song. DePreist and the 84-member Oregon Symphony will tape the orchestral variation of the familiar theme in Portland on June 2.
