Vice President William E. Crain has been elected a director of Chevron Corp., San Francisco, and will assume responsibility for worldwide exploration and production activities, effective Aug. 1. Crain succeeds Allan V. Martini, who retires July 31.

Raymond E. Galvin will succeed Crain as senior vice president-exploration, land and production, Chevron U.S.A. Inc., the company’s principal domestic oil and gas subsidiary. Galvin, presently regional vice president-exploration, land and production in New Orleans, also has been elected a vice president of the corporation.

Robert W. Davis, president of Chevron Chemical Co., and John H. Silcox, president of Chevron Overseas Petroleum Inc., have been elected vice presidents of Chevron Corp.
