Candidates Get $1.7 Million in Federal Matching Funds

The Federal Election Commission distributed $1.7 million in federal matching funds to presidential candidates Wednesday, bringing to $56.2 million the total the government has given out in the primary campaign this year.

Four candidates were certified for money on Wednesday: Republican Vice President George Bush, $289,792; Democrats Michael S. Dukakis, the Massachusetts governor, $369,442, and Jesse Jackson, $967,942, and independent Lenora Fulani, $42,289.

Republican Pat Robertson, who has suspended his campaign, received no money Wednesday.
