Music Groups Get Fund Rankings

The rankings of six local music groups applying for California Arts Council organizational grants were decided Friday by an advisory panel in Sacramento. The rankings, which are non-binding but generally are followed by the council, may range from 4 (exemplary) to 1 (not to be funded).

The groups and their rankings:

-- The Garden Grove Symphony: 2.

-- The Master Chorale of Orange County: 3+.

-- The Pacific Chorale: 4-.

-- The Pacific Symphony: 3+.

-- Opera Pacific: 3.

-- The South Coast Symphony: 3.

The full arts council will meet Aug. 25 and 26 to make final decisions on the grant applications.
