Printronix, an Irvine-based manufacturer of computer printers, posted net income of $929,000 for the year ended March 25, 1988, contrasted with a year-earlier loss of $4.9 million. The fiscal 1987 figure included a $5.1-million write-down of inventory and equipment and a tax credit for current domestic losses carried back to prior years. Sales for fiscal 1988 totaled 125. 1 million, 1% higher than the 123.7 million posted last year. For the fourth quarter, the company reported net income of $1.5 million, contrasted with a loss of $6.7 million for the comparable period last year. Sales totaled $34.9 million, 22% higher than the $28.6 million recorded last year. Robert A. Kleist, president and executive officer, said the improved results were due to better profit margins, increased demand for Printronix’s established products and reduced overhead.
