Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea’s largest automobile maker, closed its main plant at Ulsan on the southeast coast to try to end a crippling strike. Workers went on strike Monday, demanding wage increases up to $184 a month. The company is offering about $107. Workers now earn $610 to $960 a month. The Hyundai plant normally produces 2,700 cars a day, about 1,700 of which are exported. At another Hyundai company, Hyundai Precision Industry Co., 2,000 workers ended their sit-in and freed 11 top executives held since Friday.
