No Need for Big Mall

As residents of the neighborhood, we are appalled that his project is even being considered! (Are you listening, Councilman Wachs?)

--This area already has more than enough shopping available, including the Sherman Oaks Galleria and Fashion Square, both within 5 miles.

--What about the current slow-growth initiatives being put into effect due to our already overloaded sewer systems?

--The developers propose to destroy nine homes on Carpenter Street which are in the low-to-mid-priced range and replace them with a private school, thereby invading a residential area, to give the developers room for their mall expansion. The school has more than enough land to expand right where it is now. With the shortage of affordable housing in our city, how can they possibly justify this?

Let us hope that Councilman Joel Wachs will support the residents of his district and not allow greedy developers to ruin yet another community with overdevelopment. It is for certain that if Ernani Bernardi were still in charge of our district, those developers would be taking their plans elsewhere--and good riddance!
