Churchill of Cypress Signs With Phillies
Tim Churchill of Cypress College signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday.
Churchill, a graduate of Valencia High School, was selected in the 14th round by the Phillies and will report Friday to Clearwater, Fla., for the team’s mini-training camp. He will be assigned to a minor league team.
Last season as a sophomore, Churchill led Cypress in seven offensive categories, including batting (.392). He also set school single-season records with 78 hits and 62 RBIs.
