‘India’s New Muscle’
The article by Margolis proved that India’s real politics and the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi are poles apart. Though Gandhi’s views influenced and shaped a generation of Indian nationalists, many of whom became prominent figures in the government of independent India, it cannot be said that the Gandhian principles have ever been applied by India in the treatment of her neighbors.
In fact, India’s founder Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru himself did not believe that any political organization, so long as it remains political, could practice Gandhian nonviolence.
