Delaware North Corp., which had proposed a $650-million project involving a new home for the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins has apparently won a high-stakes bid to replace the Boston Garden.

“If we can get this done, we can get into a new arena with the hockey club and the Celtics by the fall of 1992,” said William D. Hassett, chairman of Boston Garden Corp. and the Bruins.
