A Scottsdale, Ariz.-based video hardware manufacturer has received a patent for its VCR-2 dual-deck videocassette recorder--a machine allowing the consumer to do a number of things he or she formerly needed two machines to do, Go-Video Inc. announced Tuesday.

The small company needed the governmental boost--given by, among others, two U.S. senators and a handful of Congressmen, all from Arizona--because Go-Video is presently the plaintiff in a number of antitrust lawsuits against some of the electronics industry’s biggest names: JVC, Sony, Toshiba and Sharp. The suits arose out of the companies’ alleged unwillingness to supply Go-Video with parts the company needs to manufacture the VCR-2.
