Share

The Rolling Hills Estates City Council has tentatively approved an ordinance that would require disclosure of building or zoning records with the sale of any residential or commercial property.

The ordinance introduced Tuesday night would require that all building permit records be made available to prospective buyers. The ordinance also provides for on-site inspections by the city at the request of the buyers.

To cover service costs, the council adopted a resolution setting the fees for the building permit records at $100 and at $125 for the on-site inspections.

Stephen Enslie, planning director, said that the ordinance, in accordance with state law requiring disclosure of any adverse property conditions when property is bought or sold, will “help cut down on any unexpected problems for the buyers in the future.”
