Jim Buccheri, an outfielder from Golden West College, was one of seven players who were cut Thursday from the squad trying out for the United States Olympic baseball team.

Catcher Brent Mayne of Cal State Fullerton survived the cut, which took place after four workouts this week. Four other catchers were cut from the squad as it was pared to 34 players.

The roster will be cut to 25 by the weekend, and a final 20-member team will be chosen in late August for the World Baseball Championships in Italy Aug. 22 through Sept. 7.
