Ziona Tagger,88; Native Israeli Artist

Ziona Tagger, 88, one of Israel’s first native artists who was known for her depictions of the old port city of Jaffa. Tagger studied painting at the Bezalel School of Art in Jerusalem and at the Andre Lot Academy in Paris. She was one of the founders of the Israeli Artists and Sculptors Assn., and was awarded Israel’s prestigious Dizengoff Prize for artists in 1937. Tagger’s work has been exhibited in many countries, including the United States. In Tel Aviv on Thursday.
