Nearly 10,000 Killed in China Mines in 1987

BEIJING —
Mine accidents in China killed nearly 10,000 people in 1987, an official newspaper said Saturday in the latest report revealing rising industrial death tolls.
China Daily said mining accounted for more deaths than any other industry but that construction site accidents also killed hundreds of workers in 1987 and appear to be increasing.
