Designer of Homes Feted at Reunion

Share

L.C. Major, once dubbed by Time magazine as America’s “tractioneer” because of his pioneer work in tract housing design, has been feted at a surprise reunion of 100 friends and former and current employees.

Lester Goodman, Major’s former vice president of marketing, planned the dinner at the Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel in Costa Mesa.

Major entered the real estate field in 1933 as an appraiser and turned to housing design during the building boom after World War II. Since 1945, the housing veteran and his firm have designed more than 600,000 homes throughout the United States.
