Pravda Denounces Stalin Pact

MOSCOW —
The Communist Party newspaper Pravda published a denunciation today of Josef Stalin’s friendship treaty with Nazi Germany and accused him of crippling the Red Army by purging the officer corps just before World War II.
Publication of a full-page article challenging Stalin’s image as a brilliant wartime leader was another major step in the process of re-examining Stalin, which has become a condemnation of the man who ruled the Soviet Union for nearly three decades.
