‘Punishing Dropouts’
I agree with your objections to the bill.
There is a more fundamental question involved in this and other measures our governments (local, state and federal) pass. It is the infringement of laws on the personal rights of the people. One of the principal purposes of government is to protect the rights of people. A restriction of rights reduces freedom--the very reason we have government. To lay such a law on high school students does not seem a very big thing, but each little bit the government does eventually adds up to an Owellian 1984 with Big Brother continually looking over our shoulder and monitoring our every move.
The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.
