RETAILING

If there is one thing that shouldn’t be in short supply at the Brea Mall, it is parking.

On July 1, the mall will formally open its newly built, two-level parking garage that will add 405 spaces.

Three more garages are scheduled to be built under the mall’s multimillion-dollar expansion. That eventually will give the mall at least 5,500 total spaces.

The new, two-level garage is northeast of the existing Nordstrom store.

When the center’s renovation is finished in 1991, the mall will have about 75 new specialty shops, as well as a larger food court and a new JW Robinson’s store. Nordstrom will move into a new, 180,000-square-foot facility, almost doubling the chain’s current space at Brea. The addition of another major retailer is also possible.
