The National Assn. of Securities Dealers said it has asked federal regulators for permission to begin an electronic bulletin board for price quotations of low-volume, over-the-counter stocks. The NASD currently runs an automated quotation system for high-volume stocks, but lists prices for smaller stocks by paper in the so-called pink sheets. The association told the Securities and Exchange Commission that the new bulletin board system, which it wants to operate for a six-month trial, would cover about 7,000 of the 20,000 to 30,000 pink sheet stocks.
