The Motion Picture and Television Country House and Hospital elected a new executive director this week.
William F. Haug, 39, former president and executive director of the California Medical Center, was unanimously elected by the 55-member Board of Trustees of the Motion Picture and Television Fund, which operates the Woodland Hills facility, said Toni Miller, spokeswoman for the fund.
“I’m real excited about the opportunity . . . ,” Haug said. “I’m confident I can provide the kind of leadership they’re looking for.”
The 46-year-old hospital and retirement home, founded by Charles Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford as a charity facility for members of the entertainment industry, is undergoing a $30-million expansion and remodeling program. It was recently cleared by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services of allegations that it defrauded Medicare by submitting misleading cost reports.
Haug replaces John M. Pavlik, who resigned May 31 after serving as director for almost six years. Frank Guarrera, director of financial services at the facility, will be acting executive director until Haug takes over Aug. 1, Miller said.
