Lakers Earn Title Shares of $36,071 Each
The Lakers divided their playoff winnings Thursday and 11 players, as well as trainer Gary Vitti, got full shares of $36,071.42 each.
The National Basketball Assn. champions split the $505,000 purse into 12 full shares and four half shares.
Full shares were awarded Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Cooper, A.C. Green, Magic Johnson, Wes Matthews, Kurt Rambis, Byron Scott, Mike Smrek, Mychal Thompson, Milt Wagner, James Worthy and Vitti.
Half shares went to Jeff Lamp, Billy Thompson, Ray Tolbert and Tony Campbell. Lamp and Thompson spent most of the season on the injured list, Tolbert was with the team for three months during the middle of the season and Campbell signed with the club March 30.
NBA coaches do not share in playoff winnings but customarily get bonuses from management.
The players, coaches and Vitti have agreed to contribute to a pool that will be divided among team staff and ballboys.
