Local News in Brief : Transit Post Field Narrows

Four city employees are among the six finalists to head the Los Angeles Transportation Department, it was announced Friday. One of the six is acting department General Manager Ed Rowe.

The Personnel Department said the field of 33 applicants for the city post was narrowed to the final six by a panel of transportation and management experts not connected with the city government.

Besides Rowe, the finalists are Guy Quinn, the department’s assistant general manager; Robert Yates, the department’s parking administrator; Ralph Valenzuela, Public Works Department chief deputy city engineer; Charles Carlson of the New York State Department of Transportation, and Terry Roberts, Oakland’s public works director.
