Say What?

Yo! Take cover! Kung Fu Joe, John Slade, Slammer, Hammer, Fly Guy and some other no-nonsense dudes are comin’ in “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka.” It’s an homage to the blaxploitation, kung fu and action pics of the ‘70s from writer/director Keenen Ivory Wayans (co-producer/co-star of “Hollywood Shuffle”), who also stars as Jack, a guy who seeks justice when his brother dies.

Who better to get justice than a gang of old super-heroes? Like Bernie Casey playing John Slade (read: Shaft); Jim Brown as Slammer (Slaughter); Isaac Hayes as Hammer; Steve James as Kung Fu Joe (Black Belt Jones); Antonio Fargas as Fly Guy (Superfly). Oh, and John Vernon as (hiss!) Mr. Big.

James (Michael Dudikoff’s fighting partner in the “America Ninja” films) said he laughed aloud reading the script.

“I always hated that label ‘blaxploitation.’ I wondered, why couldn’t there just be films with black stars? You know, you’d go around the corner from a theater showing one of them, and there’d be ‘Dirty Harry.’ And nobody was calling it ‘whitesploitation.’ ”
