The Marine Corps released the names of seven Marines killed in the crash of their CH-53D Sea Stallion helicopter in Japan. The victims, members of Heavy Helicopter Squadron 462, were based at the Marine Corps Air Station at Tustin, Calif., and were on a six-month assignment in Japan. The seven were identified as Capt. Michael E. Bermel, Cataldo, Ida.; 1st Lt. Patrick C. Fleming, Bay City, Mich.; Staff Sgt. Stephen R. Yoder, San Bernardino, Calif.; Sgt. Eric C. Mau, Bakersfield, Calif.; Sgt. Donald R. McKay, Westlake, Ohio; Sgt. Jay Watkins, Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Cpl. Jason W. Chase, Bayside, Calif. The cause of the crash is being investigated.
